Free help to quit tobacco & vaping: Be Well Arkansas 833-283-WELL (free quit line)

Madison CountyHealth Coalition

New in 2026: the coalition received a federal Drug-Free Communities grant from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and the CDC to expand substance use prevention for Madison County youth.

Since 2003 the coalition has led drug prevention work in Madison County, with federal Drug Free Communities funding (2003–2013), the Strategic Prevention Framework grant (2007–2011) and Partnership for Success grants on underage drinking and prescription drug misuse (2014). Today that work continues through medicine take-back, naloxone (Narcan) education and youth coalitions.

Naloxone (Narcan) saves lives

Naloxone reverses an opioid overdose. Keep it at home if anyone in your household takes opioid pain medicine. You can request it in the free ReviveAR app, and schools, businesses and community groups can ask for free naloxone from the state. In 2021 the coalition hosted a Narcan training with the Arkansas Department of Health: read about it.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Twice a year, in April and October, the coalition hosts a Prescription Drug Take Back event outside Walmart in Huntsville (157 Gary Hatfield Wy) as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Bring prescription drugs, vet medications, over-the-counter medicines and vaping pens (batteries removed), no questions asked. Upcoming dates are listed under News & Events. Between events, use a permanent drop box any time.
